Jon Hamm says reality television personalities could bring chaotic energy to his latest series.

The Mad Men actor, 55, named former Real Housewives stars as ideal additions to the cast of his hit show Your Friends and Neighbors, in which he is reprising his role as Andrew “Coop” Cooper for a second run of the show.

It tells the story of his divorced and unemployed hedge fund manager character turning to theft in a suburban neighbourhood to fund his lifestyle.

Speaking to People, Jon discussed the show’s returning storyline and the introduction of a new neighbour played by James Marsden, whose character disrupts Coop’s life.

Alongside discussing the plot, Jon referenced his interest in reality television, particularly programmes from Bravo, and suggested former cast members from The Real Housewives of New York City could fit the tone of the show.

Jon said: “I think we’d want to go heavy on the crazy.”

He added: “So I think we'd probably want someone like Sonja (Morgan), old-school New York. Maybe Ramona (Singer.)” Jon also said: “We want somebody crazy in there to come in and stir some s*** up. Those two, I think, would be great.”

Sonja Morgan responded to the remarks in comments on Instagram, writing: “We would love to shake things up for YOU!”

Discussing the direction of the new season of Your Friends and Neighbors, Jon said: “And (Coop) better figure out a way to get out of this, and yet, not finding it that way and seemingly getting more and more complicated and convoluted as the season goes along.”

He added: “Obviously, having this incredible performance by James, this incredible character who is a disruptor, to say the least, an agent of chaos makes it a lot more difficult.”

Jon also described the project as “fun”, adding he does not personally identify with the criminal elements of his character’s storyline.

Beyond the series, Jon has continued to comment on developments within reality television.

During an appearance on CNN New Year's Eve Live in 2025, he discussed the relationship between Paige DeSorbo and Craig Conover, as well as remarks about Dorit Kemsley from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

He also reacted to news involving Summer House cast members Amanda Batula and West Wilson, who confirmed their relationship.

At a premiere event, Jon was interviewed by Ciara Miller, who said: “I’ve been better,” before Jon later said: “Well, it’s about to get a lot better. I’m here!”

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, hosted by Andy Cohen, Jon added: “Team Ciara, for sure.”
