Nicolas Cage has admitted he had “a problem” with interrupting people in the past, while apologising for crashing Chris Rock’s interview with Howard Stern in 2022.

The 62-year-old hit headlines when he made an unscheduled appearance on the radio show, while comedian and actor Chris was chatting.

Speaking at a panel during the New York Comic Con earlier this month, Nicolas told the audience: “I don’t interrupt people anymore. I had a problem with that in the past. I feel very bad about it. And I’ve actually apologised.”

Recalling the incident in question, Nicolas continued: “Chris Rock was on the Howard Stern Show and I just crashed the show. I felt terrible. I didn’t know it was Chris. I just showed up. I didn’t want to give Howard time to think about questions to ask.”

Nicolas later saw Chris out and about, calling him “the coolest human in all of Hollywood”, and said Chris gracefully accepted his apology.

He recalled: “I love Chris and he was nice about it. But yeah, I probably shouldn’t have interrupted.”

During the Howard Stern crash, the host and Chris were in the middle of the interview when Nicolas walked into the studio - surprising both of them in the process.

He went on to say he didn’t have long to talk, before Chris joked that Nicolas was more famous than him.

When Nicolas disagreed, Chris hit back: “He’s got an Academy Award. I’ve got a Source Award.”

The Face/Off star went on to reflect on his friendship with Sean Connery, particularly with regards to the late actor’s love of golf.

He told Howard and Chris: “I was all about fishing [at the time], and I like being on my boat. And Sean wanted to get me on the golf course.”

Nicolas added that he and Sean had a “great relationship”, but insisted: “I never went on the golf course because I just didn’t have time for that.”
