Doctor Who's Mandip Gill marries long-term partner in stunning ceremony
Doctor Who star Mandip Gill has tied the knot with her long-term partner.
Doctor Who's Mandip Gill is married.
The 38-year-old actress, who played Yasmin "Yaz" Khan, the Thirteenth Doctor's (Jodie Whittaker's) companion, in the BBC sci-fi drama, tied the knot with her long-time partner, whose identity has never been revealed, in a stunning wedding ceremony.
Shots from their big day were shared on Instagram on Monday (26.10.26) and showed Mandip dressed in a traditional Punjabi outfit, accessorised with gold jewellery and red-and-gold bridal bangles.
Her husband, meanwhile, wore a dark green embroidered sherwani, with a ceremonial sword at his side.
Fans reshared the couple's wedding photos on X, with one showing Jodie, 44, celebrating her Doctor Who co-star getting hitched.
Mandip's celebrity pals led the congratulatory messages on Instagram.
Hollyoaks alum Nikki Sanderson, 42, penned: "Aww Mandip! Congratulations! You both look incredible."
Pearl Mackie, 39, who played Bill Potts, the Twelfth Doctor's (Peter Capaldi's) companion, typed: "Congratulations @mandipgill_ what a beautiful bride you are!"
One fan reacted: "Congrats on your wedding, @mandipgill_ Our Yaz got married!"
And a second supporter commented: "Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both! May your lives together be filled with endless happiness, laughter and genuine joy."
In May, Mandip announced her engagement, revealing that her spouse popped the question during a romantic getaway abroad with an orange Haribo jelly ring.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a shot of the gummy ring on her finger, with the caption: "Well ain’t that sweet #haribo #engaged @haribouki_ (sic)."
Her soulmate could be seen behind her hand, but his face was covered.
Mandip shot to fame playing Phoebe McQueen, the adoptive daughter of Jacqui McQueen (Claire Cooper), in Channel 4's Hollyoaks from 2012 until 2015.
She also had cameo roles in the BBC medical dramas Casualty and Doctors.
But Mandip is best known for her role as Yaz in Doctor Who from 2018 until 2022.
In 2020, Mandip admitted she had faced bias in her career because she is from the North of England.
The Leeds-born entertainer told the Rule Not the Exception podcast: "I think what I've struggled (with) - more than being Asian and being a woman, because they're difficult in themselves - is being Northern."
Mandip revealed that her accent "ruined" many auditions early in her acting career.
She explained: "As soon as I opened my mouth, the amount of times people have gone, 'Oh God, you're Northern'. That sort of ruined it for them. I can do the accent, but because I'm not from (London), you're seen as a liability."
