Shania Twain has described her husband Frederic Thiebaud as her "forever true love".

The 60-year-old ssinger was left heartbroken in 2008 when her 14-year marriage to 77-year-old record producer Robert 'Mutt' Lange collapsed after she discovered his affair with her close pal-and-former personal assistant, Marie-Anne Thiebaud. However, Shania grew close to Marie-Anne's former spouse, 55-year-old businessman Frederic, as they healed from the heartbreak caused by their exes' infidelity.

Now Shania has insisted Frederic is the one and he would have been her "lifelong love" even if they had met at teenagers instead of later in life. She told PEOPLE: "[He is my] forever true love ... This is the love I’m going to grow old with and it’s a beautiful feeling.

"I’m sure we’ll always have romance, but there’s a depth and a gratitude that I have about having this love. And if I [had] met Fred as a teenager, I do believe that he would have been my lifelong love even from then. It just takes sometimes years to find that person."

Shania went on to credit Frederic with keeping their relationship on track because he's such a good communicator.

She told the publication: "He’s really good at reminding both of us that we have to keep communication open. He’s the greatest talker, and he’s not inhibited at all with expressing his feelings, which is really wonderful in a man. "
