Toni Collette thought Love Actually was “c***” when she first watched it.
The Goodbye June actress made three attempts to sit through the 2003 festive classic but switched it off each time, but when she finally saw it in its entirety, she “adored” it and now it is an essential part of Christmas viewing for her and her family.
Asked her favourite Christmas film, she told Red magazine: “Well, I tried watching Love Actually three times and kept turning it off. I thought it was c***.
“Then I watched it on a plane and adored it entirely.
“Now, I watch it with my kids every Christmas.”
The 53-year-old actress’ favourite film as a child was The Sound of Music and she found the musical “inspiring”.
She said: “I loved musicals. Still do.
“Julie Andrews’ Maria was so wonderfully flawed and still landed on her feet.
“I found that inspiring; the idea that life and love can surprise you.”
