Pamela Anderson "jumped off the crazy train" by ditching makeup.

The Baywatch icon has decided to forego cosmetics at red carpet events in recent years and explained that she aimed to start a cultural trend with the move.

Pamela told People: "I just kind of could see something culturally and I thought, 'I want to jump off the crazy train. I want to be one of the first ones to jump off the crazy train and just peel it back and see what's going on.'"

The 58-year-old star has gained "so much more confidence" since choosing not to wear makeup but admits that rejecting beauty products wasn't an easy decision.

Anderson said: "It's a choice.

"You do have to work on it. It's a practice to be confident going out of the house with or without makeup."

Pamela admits that a lack of makeup has lots of practical benefits.

She joked: "I've saved a lot of time."
