Jonathan Bailey requested the horse he rode in 'Bridgerton' was cast in 'Wicked'
Jonathan Bailey was keen to have the horse he rode in 'Bridgerton' be the same one he used in 'Wicked'.
Jonathan Bailey requested the horse he rode in 'Bridgerton' was cast in 'Wicked'.
The 36-year-old actor plays Prince Fiyero Tigelaar in the two-part movie musical and because he had to ride for the role, he went to see director Jon M. Chu and asked if he could be partnered with an equine named Jack because they had built up an "amazing" bond during filming for the Netflix period drama.
In a clip posted to 'Wicked's TikTok account, Jonathan said in a voiceover as he was shown with Jack: “I went around to see Jon M. Chu before we started filming, and I said to him, I said, ‘I think I know who the horse is.’ And he was like, ‘What do you mean?’
“It's Jack, the horse that I'd ridden in 'Bridgerton', who I had an amazing relationship with.
“People say, don't work with kids and animals. But if it's Jack, I'd say, ‘Take the job. He's a legend.' "
The clip came shortly after Jonathan reflected on the way he had "built a trust and a rapport" with Jack.
He told 'The Popcorn Podcast': “He's incredibly focused and can deliver a very sort of stable scene partner."
And as a result of having Jack with him, the actor “felt confident just to sort of go for gold” with Fiyero’s entrance to the movie.
He said: “I thought you know you need to start with a strong entrance.”
Meanwhile, Jonathan recently admitted he is "really excited" to go back to the UK so he can watch 'Wicked' with his grandmother.
He told E! News at the movie's Los Angeles premiere over the weekend: "It was just so present in my childhood and my family.
"And I remember watching with my grandparents. And so, I'm really excited to get to London and get home and to watch it with my 93-year-old grandma.
"I've already seen it with the next generation. I saw it with a niece in Sydney."
