The music world is in mourning following the death of British blues legend John Mayall.

The guitarist passed away "peacefully" at the age of 90 on July 22, after battling some "health issues" that prevented him from touring.

In one of the final interviews before his death, Mayall revealed to BANG Showbiz that he never learned to read or write music during his seven-decade spanning career.

He said: I’m pretty tough when it comes to the technique of everything, I can’t play a scale or anything. It’s just natural for my ideas."

In the interview he later added: I don’t think you really can pinpoint int because there’s too many of them. I never learned how to read or write music, so I just learn what is natural for the song."

Mayall has been confirmed as an inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this October in Cleveland, Ohio.
