The blues and rock worlds are in shock following the news that pioneering guitarist John Mayall has died at the age of 90.

Mayall's passing on July 22 was announced on his official Facebook page and tributes have since poured in from his musical peers such as Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger and Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler.

In one of the final interviews conducted before his death, Mayall opened up about his short period of rock 'n' roll hedonism, revealing he had his own home bar dubbed "The Brain Damaged Club" at his former Laurel Canyon house in Los Angeles.
