Duchess of Sussex's dad calls child abuse image allegations a 'bunch of lies'
It was reported earlier this week that Thomas, 82, is facing a police investigation in the Philippines after his son Thomas Markle Jr - Meghan’s half-brother - alleged he had discovered the images among family possessions and computer files.
Thomas Markle Sr, the father of Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has strenuously denied child sexual abuse image allegations against him, calling the claims a “bunch of lies”.
It was reported earlier this week that Thomas, 82, is facing a police investigation in the Philippines after his son Thomas Markle Jr - Meghan’s half-brother - alleged he had discovered the images among family possessions and computer files.
According to reports, Thomas Markle Jr submitted a sworn statement to police in the Philippine city of Cebu after allegedly discovering the material.
Meghan, who has had no contact with her father since 2018, before her wedding to Prince Harry, released a public statement of her own on Friday (23.10.26), saying that she was “deeply distressed” by the “troubling and disturbing allegations” that she was first made aware of back in 2018, when a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police - after which she said she had been “given assurances that these were being investigated”.
Now Thomas Markle Sr has spoken out about the allegations made against him, saying in a statement to the Daily Mail: “I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me.
“I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of.
“This is b*******. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick.”
He also said he has “no idea” why his son is “trying to destroy me with these lies”.
Thomas added: “These terrible lies are being made against me with no proof. How can you accuse a man of something like this with no proof? I go between feeling very sad to feeling very angry.”
Thomas Markle Sr went on to tell the Daily Mail that the computers his son claims to have found the images on haven’t been in his possession since 2025.
He said: “Those computers were boxed up in Mexico and put on a cargo ship which took months to get to the Philippines. I kept asking Tom for my computers but he wouldn’t give them to me.”
Thomas concluded by insisting he had “never downloaded anything like that in my life”, and also hadn’t spoken to his son “in months”.
