Taylor Swift brands Jason Kelce’s 7.30am phone call messed up after bizarre request to husband Travis
The Kansas City Chiefs star revealed how his brother’s unexpected early morning workout request sparked a reaction from the pop superstar.
Taylor Swift was left unimpressed after her husband Travis Kelce received an early morning phone call from his brother Jason Kelce – to say he wanted help lifting weights.
The pop superstar, 36, was still in bed when Jason, 38, contacted the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 37, at 7.30am to ask him to act as a spotter during a weightlifting challenge.
Speaking on Wednesday’s (21.10.26) episode of their New Heights podcast, the brothers recalled how Taylor reacted to the interruption, which took place while Jason was visiting the couple in Kansas City, Missouri.
Travis said: “I get a call at 7.30 in the morning. In my mind, I’m thinking worst-case scenario.”
He added: “I’m like, ‘Oh, s***. Is everything okay? Maybe after the run Jason’s in the hospital, he blew his knee out or something’.”
However, the former Philadelphia Eagles player was not calling about an emergency.
Instead, Jason needed someone to supervise him while he completed a workout as part of Squatober, a fitness challenge involving daily squats throughout October.
Travis recalled his disbelief when he discovered why his brother had called so early.
He said: “I was just like, ‘No way!’”
Despite the unexpected request, Travis agreed to help, although Taylor was apparently less enthusiastic about the situation.
Travis said: “I’m walking out of the room, and Taylor’s like, ‘This is f***** up.’”
He added: “And I’m just like, ‘Nah, it’ll be good. It’ll be good!’”
The brothers laughed as they discussed the incident, with Travis explaining Jason had made preparations for his workout before arriving in Kansas City.
Jason had contacted him ahead of the visit to ask what equipment was available in his home gym.
Travis said: “I just told him how many weights I had. And he was like, ‘Oh, okay, cool, I’ll bring some’.”
Jason confirmed he had travelled with two 25lb weights and additional equipment for the exercise session.
He described bringing “a couple extra plates to throw on the old squat bar”.
Travis said: “Absolutely hilarious, the most meathead thing I think I’ve ever seen Jason do.”
The anecdote comes just months after Taylor and Travis married in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York on 3 July 2026, following their engagement announcement in August 2025.
Taylor, whose hits include Shake It Off, Love Story, Blank Space and Anti-Hero, has become a regular presence at Kansas City Chiefs games since her relationship with Travis became public in 2023.
The singer completed her record-breaking Eras Tour in December 2024 and subsequently released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, in October 2025.
She also appeared on New Heights in August 2025, discussing her music career, the conclusion of her tour and her efforts to regain ownership of her master recordings.
Meanwhile, Jason and Taylor were both at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday (18.10.26) to support Travis during the Chiefs’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Jason said: “We were all there in Arrowhead this weekend.”
He added: “It was a blast.”
During the game, Taylor was filmed gesturing towards a spectator sitting below her VIP suite, apparently asking them to stop recording her and focus on the action on the field.
The Chiefs went on to defeat the Chargers 22-6, continuing their unbeaten start to the NFL season.
Travis, who has won three Super Bowls with Kansas City, has continued playing for the team while Jason has pursued broadcasting and podcasting commitments since retiring from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024.
During the same New Heights episode, Travis also discussed the unexpected impact his relationship with Taylor has had on football supporters.
He explained he had encountered fathers who said their daughters had become interested in the NFL because of the singer’s involvement with the sport.
Travis described the experience as “pretty cool”, saying the increased interest had helped families find something to enjoy together.
The Chiefs are next scheduled to face the Seattle Seahawks on 25 October as they attempt to extend their unbeaten run.
