Mia Goth files for divorce from Shia LaBeouf
The MaXXXine actress is seeking primary custody of the couple’s daughter as she moves to formally end her decade-long marriage to the Transformers star.
Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf after 10 years of marriage.
Bringing their long and turbulent relationship to a legal end more than a year after the couple separated, the 32-year-old MaXXXine and Frankenstein star filed documents in Los Angeles on Tuesday (06.10.26), citing “irreconcilable differences” and listing 28 July 2025 as the date she and Shia, 40, separated.
The actors met while making Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac: Vol. II in 2012, married in Las Vegas in 2016 and share a four-year-old daughter, Isabel.
Mia is seeking primary legal and physical custody and has asked that neither party receive spousal support, according to court documents reported by Page Six.
The divorce filing comes after Shia publicly discussed the breakdown of his marriage earlier this year, acknowledging that his own actions had damaged their relationship.
Speaking to Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan in March, Shia said: “We were deeply unhappy. I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have a baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.”
Mia and Shia’s relationship has included previous periods apart.
They separated in 2018 before later reconciling and welcomed Isabel in 2022.
Reports they had separated again emerged after Shia was arrested in New Orleans during Mardi Gras in February.
The Transformers and Honey Boy actor was arrested after New Orleans police said he struck two men during an altercation at a business in the Marigny area.
Police said Shia had initially been removed from the premises before returning and becoming involved in a further confrontation.
Shia subsequently pleaded guilty in June to three counts of simple battery.
He received suspended six-month sentences on each count and was placed on two years of active probation.
The divorce filing also comes as another long-running legal dispute involving Shia and his former girlfriend FKA twigs, 38, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, has reached a conclusion.
FKA twigs met Shia while working on his semi-autobiographical 2019 film Honey Boy.
In 2020, she filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual battery, assault and emotional distress during their relationship. Shia denied her allegations, and the former couple reached a private settlement in 2025.
A subsequent dispute developed over nondisclosure provisions contained in that settlement.
Shia filed an arbitration claim in December 2025 alleging that FKA twigs had breached their agreement by discussing their relationship publicly, while she filed a lawsuit in March challenging the confidentiality restrictions.
That dispute has now ended after Shia agreed the contested nondisclosure provisions were “terminated and void”. FKA twigs subsequently asked for her latest lawsuit to be dismissed, with her lawyers saying the case had “achieved its purpose”.
Mia, meanwhile, has continued to build her career around a series of prominent horror roles. She became closely associated with the genre through Ti West’s X trilogy – X, Pearl and MaXXXine – playing both Maxine Minx and Pearl across the films.
She subsequently starred as Elizabeth Lavenza opposite Oscar Isaac, 47, and Jacob Elordi, 29, in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, which was released by Netflix in 2025.
Shia remains best known to a generation of viewers for playing Louis Stevens in the Disney Channel series Even Stevens before becoming an international film star as Sam Witwicky in the first three live-action Transformers films.
His other credits include Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Fury, American Honey, Honey Boy and Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis.
