Meghan Markle ‘opened up about palace visit during private dinner’
Lifestyle entrepreneur Martha Stewart has said the Duchess of Sussex spoke about her return from the Palace following a family visit to the UK, as Meghan continues to expand her media and lifestyle projects.
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex reportedly opened up about her recent visit with King Charles and Queen Camilla during a dinner party in California.
The 45-year-old duchess and her husband Prince Harry, 41, recently travelled to the UK with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, during a wider European trip, and lifestyle entrepreneur Martha Stewart, 85, has now claimed Meghan spoke about the visit after getting back to America.
Speaking to People, Martha said about how she had recently met Meghan: “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California.
“And she had just gotten back from the palace. I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.”
Martha was also asked by People what she thought about Meghan moving into the lifestyle and homemaking space following the launch of the Duchess’s cooking series, With Love, Meghan.
She replied: “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show.
“It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
The comments come during a busy period for Meghan, whose lifestyle projects have continued to attract attention alongside her media ventures with Harry.
The Duchess launched With Love, Meghan as part of her expanding lifestyle brand, while continuing to share glimpses of family life on social media.
Meghan first came to international prominence through her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits before marrying into the Royal family in 2018.
Harry, meanwhile, remains closely associated with the Invictus Games, the international sporting competition for wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans that he founded.
His latest visit to Britain followed continuing public interest in his relationship with the Royal family after several years of well-documented tensions.
During the family's UK stay, Meghan also shared photographs appearing to show Harry and their children visiting the childhood home of Diana, Princess of Wales, who died in 1997 aged 36.
Reports also suggested the family travelled through Portugal during their European trip, where Harry and Meghan are said to be purchasing a second home near Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
The visit to Britain was followed by Meghan marking her 45th birthday this week on social media.
She shared a video of herself dancing around the kitchen wearing pyjamas and a tiara while Harry could be heard saying: “Oh dear.”
The couple are understood to have spent the day with Archie and Lilibet at their home in Montecito, California.
Earlier, Meghan thanked followers for the “birthday love” after posting photographs of herself jumping into a swimming pool.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the Sussexes last month met King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla, 79, for tea at Highgrove, marking the first time the monarch had seen his daughter-in-law and grandchildren since 2022.
The visit came after Harry travelled to Britain for engagements including the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Reports stated he had initially intended to bring his family for the duration of the five-day trip, but travelled alone before they later entered the UK privately because of ongoing security concerns following his legal dispute with the Home Office over taxpayer-funded protection.
