Chris Brown pleads guilty to affray over London nightclub attack
Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray over a 2023 incident in a London nightclub in which a man was hit over the head with a bottle.
Chris Brown has pleaded guilty to affray following a confrontation at a London nightclub in 2023.
The 37-year-old singer faced an allegation that he attacked a former friend with a bottle at the Tape Club in Mayfair and the star admitted to an additional charge of affray at Southwark Crown Court on Friday (24.07.26).
Brown had been due to face trial in October on more serious charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and actual bodily harm against the victim Abraham Diaw, but these charges have now been dropped by prosecutors.
The court heard how the fight was caught on a surveillance camera in front of the nightclub and how the Beautiful People singer struck his victim twice over the head with a bottle before his co-defendant Omolulu Akinlolu – a rapper who performs under the name Hoody Baby – punched the man in the head.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) added that the victim had also been kicked whilst sitting defenceless on the floor.
Diaw was later taken to St Mary's Hospital in London with head and knee injuries.
Brown and Akinlolu were both bailed to be sentenced on October 26 at Southwark Crown Court.
The Look At Me Now artist – who waved to fans who were playing his music as he arrived at court - has been permitted to leave the UK but must return on October 25 as part of his bail conditions.
Detective Constable Zara Ripamonti, from the Metropolitan Police Service, said: "This was a disgraceful, unprovoked assault that put a man in hospital.
"There is no place for serious violence like this in London and I'm pleased these men accepted what they did wasn't just completely unacceptable – but criminal.
"This has been a long investigation and we've worked with police colleagues in the UK to bring these two men to justice."
Brown had previously been ordered to pay a £5 million security fee as part of his bail conditions, which allowed him to go on a world tour so long as he surrendered his passport upon arrival in each country.
The Grammy-winning star even joked on stage about the "nice" time he had in jail as he performed in Manchester on his Breezy Bowl XX Tour in June 2025.
He said: "Thank you for coming and supporting me. And thank you to the jail. It was really nice."
