Dwayne Johnson has revealed the one skincare product he believes every man should be using.

Saying facial toner is the “quiet superpower” behind a grooming routine as he continues expanding his Papatui lifestyle brand ahead of the release of Disney’s live-action Moana, the 54-year-old actor and former WWE champion shared his grooming advice in People magazine’s One Last Thing feature as he promotes the live-action adaptation of Moana, which arrived in cinemas on Friday (10.07.26).

Dwayne reprises his role as the demigod Maui from Disney’s 2016 animated hit, with Catherine Lagaʻaia taking over the role of Moana from Auliʻi Cravalho.

The cast also includes Jemaine Clement, John Tui, Frankie Adams and Rena Owen.

Speaking about men’s skincare, Dwayne said one product deserves far more attention.

He told People: “It’s toner. Dudes, you must use toner.”

Explaining why, Dwayne added: “Toner is the quiet superpower. Because toner’s the thing that our girls use, our ladies use that. And instead of going to steal their stuff, I founded Papatui.”

Dwayne launched the Papatui skincare and grooming range in 2024, with the collection including facial toner, moisturiser, cleanser, eye gel, body wash and haircare products.

The actor singled out the brand’s toner, which contains witch hazel, along with its volcanic ash facial scrub and fragrances.

According to the Papatui website, the Rejuvenating Facial Toner is an unscented, alcohol-free product designed to refresh, hydrate and balance men’s skin while helping remove excess oil, exfoliate dead skin cells and minimise pores.

The skincare range attracted widespread attention in June after a TikTok creator jokingly questioned why Dwayne was selling shampoo and conditioner despite being famously bald.

Responding on social media, Dwayne posted a video showing himself wearing Maui’s long hair from the live-action Moana.

He wrote: “Ok this made me belly laugh.. HARD.”

He added: “And hey, sometimes a Demigod’s radiant and ravishing hair needs shampoo/conditioner. You’re Welcooooome.”

The actor previously said he hoped Papatui would encourage more men to speak openly about skincare rather than treating it as something to be embarrassed about.

Speaking to People in 2024, Dwayne said: “So many times I would say, ‘Dude, why are we whispering (about skincare)? It’s okay. We should be able to have this open conversation.’”

He continued: “Papatui has allowed me to encourage just a more open, greater conversation about skincare and grooming.”

Earlier this month, Dwayne confirmed Moana 3 is in development following the success of the 2024 animated sequel.

Alongside the Disney franchise, Dwayne remains one of Hollywood’s biggest action stars through films including Fast and Furious, Jumanji, Black Adam and Red Notice, while continuing to make appearances with WWE.

The live-action Moana reunites Dwayne with one of Disney’s most successful modern franchises, following the original animated film and its 2024 sequel.

The story follows Moana and the demigod Maui on a dangerous ocean voyage, while the expanding franchise is set to continue with Moana 3.
