Shania Twain finally feels proud of her body at the age of 60 after spending years struggling with her weight.

The You're Still The One superstar previously admitted she resorted to "very unhealthy" measures in an attempt to slim down and refused to look at herself in the mirror when she was going through the menopause, but Shania has now confessed she's now feeling comfortable in her own skin.

She told The Independent: "I have a 60-year-old body, but I will walk on the beach in my bikini.

"I don’t really care if [people] are OK with it or not, right? I don’t have any regrets about most things, but if I’d come out of my timid skin earlier, it would have been much healthier."

When asked to give advice to her younger self, she told the publication: "If you’re not comfortable in your own skin, you will never be yourself.

"That’s why I wrote [her hit track] Man! I Feel Like a Woman! I was saying: 'I’m over strapping my chest down' ... That stopped after my first video."

The country singer previously opened up about her body image struggles revealing she was battling menopausal symptoms during her Las Vegas residency in 2019.

She told The Sunday Times magazine: "In menopause you lose control of your body. So all of a sudden I’m bloating and I’m definitely not in control. I can’t just lose five pounds.

"I stopped looking at myself in the mirror. I hated my body. I’m, like: 'Oh, I cannot stand this changing body.' But that was so unhealthy. Who cannot look at themselves in the mirror?"

Shania realised she couldn't sustain her unhealthy habits so she cut out fats and sugars, and upped her exercise regime which made her feel better. She noted: "I was malnourished. To be thinner...

"I was doing very unhealthy things. And I was working my body more than I was feeding it, to keep up with the strain."

She went on to add: "Now I’m, like, bring on the mirrors, I’m going to look at myself all day long! Menopause has been very good for me because I’ve learnt that some things you cannot control."
