The Muppets join Marvel Universe for 'iconic' crossover
Kermit The Frog, Missy Piggy and more will team up with the likes of Spider-Man and Wolverine in a special Muppets and Marvel crossover project.
The Muppets are joining Marvel Universe with a special anniversary crossover comic book.
The likes of Kermit The Frog, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear will team up with Spider-Man, Wolverine, Black Panther and more in a series of adventures in a special one-shot issue to mark the 50th anniversary of The Muppet Show.
The Muppet Take The Marvel Universe #1 will see Rowlf the Dog kidnapped by Mojo, who is trying to launch his own streaming service.
Kermit, Piggy, Wolverine and more are forced to team up to save the day.
Other stories in the comic will see Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker conduct a Gamma Rays and Pym Particles experiment with Bruce Banner and Hank Pym, while Swedish Chef has to help Clea after she falls ill from a mystical virus which Doctor Strange can't cure.
Pigs In Space will also return, as Captain Link Hogthrob, First Mate Piggy, and Dr. Julius Strangepork crash into Rocket Raccoon and Groot.
The issue features the writing talents of Chip Zdarsky, Mackenzie Cadenhead, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Adam F. Goldberg, Ashley Allen, Kyle Starks and more, while artwork has been done by Pete Woods, David Baldeon, Áthila Fabbio, E.J. Su, Paco Medina and Mike Henderson.
Zdarsky quipped: "With the great power of two iconic properties comes great responsibility. I promise to not let down Kermit, Fozzie and Animal the way Spider-Man let down his Uncle Ben.
“It’s impossible to overstate how excited I write for Miss Piggy, who I consider to be one of the greatest icons of the last hundred years, a character who speaks to every generation. I also got to write Deadpool.
“And Pete Woods is turning in the most stunning, detailed and joyous pages. Seeing his take on these characters interacting is a real delight.”
Meanwhile, Leigh Slaughter, Vice President of The Muppets Studio, opened up on why the project is so "meaningful" in 2026.
She added: “It has been exciting for The Muppets Studio to collaborate with Marvel Comics in a new and unique way to bring the personality, humour and mayhem of The Muppets into the Marvel Universe and vice versa.
“To do this during the 50th anniversary year of ‘The Muppet Show’ makes this project even more meaningful.”
There are a number of variant covers to come - created by the likes of Nick Bradshaw, Humberto Ramos and Ron Lim - including a Logo Mashup, and Matteo Lolli's special Muppet Treasure Island 30th Anniversary cover.
It comes after the huge success of Disney+ and ABC's The Muppet Show revival earlier this year, which guest starred Sabrina Carpenter, with fans calling for a whole new series.
The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1 is available to preorder now, and will be on sale from September 23.
