Mel B told Rory McPhee she was never going to get married again and urged him to "look somewhere else" if he was hoping to settle down.

The 50-year-old Spice Girls star - real name Melanie Brown - got together with Rory in 2018 and the singer has now revealed the romance was initially just a bit of "fun" because she had no plans to embark on another serious relationship following two failed marriages.

Mel told The Times newspaper: "When Rory and I [got] together, I said: 'I’m not your girlfriend. I’m never getting married again and I’m never going to have kids. So if I were you, I would look somewhere else - but we could have fun'."

Mother-of-three Mel - who was previously married to Jimmy Gulzar between 1998 and 2000 and to Stephen Belafonte from 2007b until 2017 - ended up falling in love with Rory and they married at St Paul's Cathedral in London last summer. Mel went on to explain the relationship works because they have known each other for decades and come from the same village in the north of England.

However, Mel admits her relatives were shocked that she'd fallen for "family friend" Rory. She explained: "I’ve known Rory all my life, long before I was a Spice Girl. He’s a family friend.

"All my aunties and uncles were like: 'Quiet, safe Rory?' He keeps to himself. But he’s a very sweet guy, he’s from the same village I’m from, we’ve got the same humour, the same accent.

"[My friend] Heidi [Klum] told me: 'I’m getting married again’, and I was like: 'Oh my God, what?' But she met a guy from her village, they speak the same German [dialect]. I get it, it works."

Mel's husband previously opened up about the he proposed revealing he was shaking with nerves and ended up "babbling".

Rory told HELLO! Magazine: "I was so nervous, my lips were trembling. I'd spent ages writing down all these things I wanted to say, but when it came to it, I just babbled."

Mel added: "Oh no, it was lovely, what you said. He told me he loved me, that I was his best friend and that he wanted to be with me for the rest of our lives."
