A man was arrested for storming security barriers and embracing Ariana Grande at Singapore's Wicked: For Good premiere, and he has since "thanked" the pop star.

Johnson Wen, who is known as Pyjama Man on Instagram, took to social media to share a video of the shocking moment in Singapore, when he jumped a security barrier and rushed over to Ariana, before putting his arm around her.

Her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo has since been hailed as a heroine after she leapt to her protection and pushed Wen away, which has now gone viral.

Pyjama Man wrote: "@arianagrande @wickedmovie Dear Ariana Grande Thank You for letting me Jump on the Yellow Carpet with You [heart emoji]"

The over-excited fan was subsequently arrested, but later freed.

Following the incident, he wrote on his Instagram Stories: "I'm free after being arrested."

However, some social media users slammed him for the stunt.

One wrote: "You’re the reason why we get less appearances in Asia"

Another posted: "GET A JOB STAY AWAY FROM HER"

Red carpet crasher Wen has become known for disrupting concerts, after he did so at a Katy Perry gig in June, and The Weeknd’s show in August, as well as the Paris Olympics last year.

Before the Wicked: For Good premiere in Singapore, he said: "I feel like I'm in a dream.

"That's my best friend Ariana Grande and I'm going to meet her. I've been dreaming about that."

Erivo's quick reactions to Wen's red-carpet crashing have been widely praised by the singer's fans.

And the star also went viral earlier this month, following her reaction to a Wicked fan telling her she had found the actress' lost sculptural hat.

Last year, the 38-year-old actress - who stars in the musical-fantasy film with 32-year-old Ariana - lost the black headpiece at the Wicked premiere in London.

A year on, Cynthia bumped into 23-year-old supporter Clara as the star left an event in London, and Cynthia was shocked when she found out the fan had the distinctive hat in her home.

In a video - which Clara uploaded to her TikTok account - Cynthia said: "Are you joking? You found my hat? Oh my god!"

Clara then pulled out her phone to show the star proof.

The fan said: "I have it in my house! I don’t have it on me."

A delighted Cynthia then asked: "May I have it back, please? I thought I lost it forever."

The actress, her team and Clara made arrangements to get the hat back to the actress.

Cynthia said: "Can we please get this lady’s number?

"You lifesaver."
