Martin Short 'thrilled' about Selena Gomez engagement
Martin Short couldn't be happier for his "lovely" Only Murders in the Building co-star Selena Gomez and her fiance Benny Blanco.
Martin Short is "thrilled" about Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's engagement.
The 75-year-old actor praised his "absolutely lovely" Only Murders in the Building and admitted he couldn't be happier that she's found a "fabulous" partner in the 37-year-old producer.
Speaking on the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast, he said of Selena: "I just adore her. I'm so happy that she's getting married to this fabulous guy, Benny Blanco, who's just one of the great, cool guys and funny and loose, and she adores him.
"I'm just thrilled for her happiness, and I'm thrilled to get to work with her."
Last week, Martin and his other Only Murders in the Building co-star, Steve Martin, joked they weren't invited to Selena and Benny's wedding but planned to gatecrash in order to honour the pair with a unique gift.
Steve, 80, told Extra: "First, we're not invited. But we are going to parachute in with hand mics and do something."
Martin quipped: "Absolutely. And, you know, I'm doing a medley, again, of songs that weren't nominated… but, again, haven't been asked."
And Selena insisted that was something she'd love.
Asked the perfect gift from her co-stars, she said: "This is the gift, honestly."
Martin joked: "I was going to ask you. Because you have a salt and pepper shaker, right?"
Steve added: "I have the perfect wedding gift, and we are going to give it to them together."
The hit murder mystery comedy series is returning for a fifth season, and Selena admitted she has had a "blast" working with the iconic comedic actors.
She told E! News: "I'm so happy that it's been five years working with Steve and Marty, it's been a blast, I feel very fortunate and blessed."
Meanwhile, Steve joked that he learns a lot about Selena's life by reading about her in the media.
He added: "So much has happened in her life, even as an outsider, but even as an insider in the hallway - I mean backstage, offstage, in the hallway, the dressing room.
"The life off camera is, you know... we know her and we read about her. So we have to put it all together!"
Turning to Martin, he quipped: "I never read about you!"
Benny and Selena confirmed their relationship in December 2023, before announcing their engagement a year later.
