Alec Baldwin is still coming to terms with the 'Rust' shooting tragedy.
The 66-year-old actor was holding a prop gun on the wet of the Western in October 2021 when it discharged, injuring director Joel Souza and killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and he admitted he had to put his feelings aside at the time for the same of wife Hilaria and their young family, Carmen, 11, Rafael, nine, Leonardo, eight, Romeo, six, Eduardo and Marilu, both four, and two-year-old Ilaria.
Alec - who also has Ireland, 29, with ex-wife Kim Basinger - told People magazine: “I had to stuff [feelings] down because I had seven kids. I couldn’t really go in the other room and cry or whatever. And now the emotion is really kind of washing up on me."
The former '30 Rock' star - whose involuntary manslaughter trial over the incident collapsed last summer - doesn't think other people would have "survived" what he went through.
He said: “I don't think other people would've survived this.
“I think the number one thing they would've done — they would've cashed out everything they own, wadded it up into a big ball, and left. Left New York. New York is the most media-centric place in the world.”
And Alec doesn't believe he'll ever be the same again in the wake of the tragedy, recalling a discussion he had at a dinner party last summer with a "famous woman" who had been through a "horrible incident".
Declining to reveal the identity of the celebrity, he recalled: “I said, ‘I'm asking myself, is it ever possible for me to be the same again after this happened?’ And she goes, ‘I haven't been the same for one day. Not one day. It changed my life. It changed me. It changed my whole life as a person.'
“This is a woman who's very prominent, big media presence, successful and rich and everything. And she just looked me right in the eye. She goes, ‘Not one day have I felt I'm back to the way I was."
Alec is taking legal action in the wake of his collapsed trial.
The 'Boss Baby' star has filed a civil complaint for malicious prosecution against prosecutors in the case, First Judicial District Attorney officials, Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office authorities and Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners for "malicious abuse of process, intentional spoliation of evidence, defamation, and violation of the New Mexico Civil Rights Act."
According to documents obtained by People magazine, Alec's lawyers alleged those named were "blinded by their desire to convict" him "for all the wrong reasons, and at any cost".
