Rosie O'Donnell has thanked fans for making her feel "less alone" in the wake of her daughter's arrest.

Chelsea O'Donnell is currently being held in jail in Wisconsin awaiting trial after being charged with felony child neglect and drug possession earlier this month, and the former 'View' co-host appreciates the messages of support she has received since the news was made public.

She said in a TikTok video: "I just wanted to thank everybody for their kind words and wishes about Chelsea. I appreciate that — it's very nice.

"And for all the people who told me they were going through something similar with a child or spouse or a brother or a lover, thank you for making me feel less alone. I think it's hard to be a public person sometimes, and it's hard for the children of those public people.

"But, you know, it is what it is in the culture today. And here we are."

The 62-year-old star - who, as well as 27-year-old Chelsea, also has Parker, 29, Blake, 24, Vivienne, 21, and 11-year-old Dakota from previous relationships - noted life can be "hard" for both those in the public eye and their families.

She added: "I think it's hard to be a public person sometimes and it's hard for the children of those public people. But, you know, it is what it is in the culture today."

Rosie ended her video by telling fans she had attended Joni Mitchell's "unbelievable" 'Joni Jam' show at the Hollywood Bowl over the weekend.

She added: "[It was] exactly what my soul needed.

"I adore her. And Brandi Carlile and Annie Lennox. Joni Jam, man. If you have the chance to go see it, do."

Chelsea - who has Skylar, five, Riley, three, Avery, two, and 11-month-old Atlas - was booked into Oconto County Jail and will remain behind bars until her hearings on 4 and 7 November.

Following the news, Rosie - who adopted Chelsea when she was a baby with former partner Kelli Carpenter - shared an old selfie of her daughter and lamented her battle with addiction.

She wrote on Instagram: “Chelsea is in the news today — this is a photo from a better time.

"Sadly, this is not new for our family. Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade — we are all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease."
