Selma Blair's son would "never" watch her movies until he started dating and ended up a little concerned when he watched 'Cruel Intentions' with a girl.

Selma Blair's son would "never" watch her movies until he started dating.

The 52-year-old actress has Arthur, 14, with her former partner Jason Bleick and revealed that the teenager had actually watched 1990s hit 'Cruel Intentions' - in which Selma plays a sheltered young girl with an overbearing psychiatrist mother - with his girlfriend, but had never taken an interest in her on-screen career beforehand.

She told People: "I spoke to my son and I said, ‘What did you do with your girlfriend this weekend?’ He's like, ‘We watched 'Cruel Intentions'.’ I couldn't get him to watch a film of mine ever."

The 1999 teen drama also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe as a pair of vicious stepsiblings who concoct a bet tor Ryan's character Sebastian to take the virginity of Annette Hargrove (Reese Witherspoon).

The 'Legally Blonde' star has "tried" to get her son to watch her films before to no avail, but admitted that because Intentions' is quite a "sexy" film, she ended up quite concerns, especially when he started to ask questions.

She said: "I mean, I've tried, he's never watched. But with a girl, he’ll watch 'Cruel Intentions', and I was like, ‘Oh dear...' It is a sexy movie.

"He's like, ‘Mom, what was that?’ Because my character Cecile does it. It was naughty. It was naughty, is my point. He still enjoyed it though. It still holds up."

Selma recently admitted that her son may have just hit the teenage years, but could pass for much older.

She said: "No, he's 13 and you would think he's 17,. And he is the child that I will have to learn to keep a closer eye on. Because I love him very much."
