JoJo Siwa reveals why she 'needs' security on a daily basis after scary incident at her home
JoJo Siwa reveals why she now "needs" to have security on a daily basis after her rise from child star to pop singer.
JoJo Siwa "needs" to have security on a daily basis.
The 21-year-old star has been in the public eye since she appeared on 'Dance Moms' as a child but it is only in recent times she has learned she needs a team around her for her safety, especially after recent incidents which has seen pranksters send the emergency services to her home unnecessarily.
She told E! News: "This definitely is different. It’s interesting—OK, I guess we’ll get really right into it: I got swatted two nights ago. I haven’t told anybody about this yet. But basically, I showed up to my house, there was four police cars outside.
"The police asked me, he was like, ‘Why do you not have security with you in this moment?’
"And I was like, ‘Cause I haven’t needed it yet.’ But now, I do really need it every day with me. So, it definitely has changed in the last month, two months, three months, I guess, since ‘Karma’ came out. It’s been fun to say the least."
JoJo - who previously revealed that her home was swatted in 2021 as well - landed roles on Nickelodeon after initially finding fame but explained that after shifting gears into a pop career with her singles 'Karma' and 'Guilty Pleasure' from her debut EP of the same name is representative of the journey she has been on since her child stardom through to adulthood.
She said: "I think for a very long time, I’ve been in the industry since I was nine, I really have been a lot of people’s guilty pleasures for different reasons.
"Especially now with ‘Karma,’—the dance, the makeup, everyone [saying], 'You’re a weirdo. You’re a freak.'
"It doesn’t matter what you’re commenting, you’re still commenting!
"That’s what’s funny is people will essentially use their time—I’m not gonna say waste their time—but there's people that are using their time to comment, 'You're not my guilty pleasure.' Then why are you on my page, and why are you commenting? Click not interested and keep it pushing, kid."
