Princess Beatrice declares mum Sarah Ferguson is ‘all clear’ of cancer
In her first ever live TV interview, Princess Beatrice said her mum Sarah Ferguson is “all clear” and “doing really well” after a double cancer scare.
Princess Beatrice says her mum Sarah Ferguson is “all clear” and “doing really well” after a double cancer scare.
The 35-year-old royal’s mother the Duchess of York, 64, was diagnosed with skin cancer in January, six months after being treated for breast cancer – and her daughter has now said she is “thriving”.
In her first live TV interview on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ on Monday (06.05.24), Beatrice told presenters Josie Gibson, 39, and Craig Doyle, 53, via video link from the top of the Empire State Building in New York about her mum: “She’s such a phenomenal icon. As a mum she’s been amazing.
“She’s been through so much and her sense of purpose and resilience really keeps me going.
“She’s doing really well, thank you Josie. She had a bumpy health scare last year but she’s all clear now.
“But I think at 64, she’s thriving. She’s been through so much, but now she's coming into her own.
“We are just reminded when any parent or individual has a health scenario, you really need to get the checks you need as early as you possibly can.”
Beatrice added she and her 34-year-old sibling Princess Eugenie – both of whom Sarah had with her disgraced ex-husband Prince Andrew, 64 – had been inspired by her mum getting screened for cancer.
She said: “Both my sister and I are so proud of her for taking those steps to get those checks.
“We’re really lucky in the UK to make sure you can get those checks as best as you can.
“Hopefully, we can be there to support each other when anyone goes through a health scare.
“There’s nothing more important than family.”
Sarah revealed her aggressive skin cancer diagnosis in January after doctors removed a malignant melanoma – a month after
