Brian ‘Q’ Quinn, James ‘Murr’ Murray and Sal Vulcano are returning for a 13th season of Impractical Jokers.

After the long-running series delivered record ratings as its current run draws to a close. the hidden-camera comedy, which follows the trio competing in public challenges designed to embarrass one another, has been renewed by Warner Bros. Discovery as it approaches the end of its 12th season.

The current season will conclude with two final episodes airing on 19 and 20 March on TBS, following NCAA March Madness games.

The second half of the season, which premiered on 15 January and consisted of nine episodes and two specials, has driven a significant increase in viewership, with the show described as a rare growth story for basic cable.

Jason Sarlanis, president of TNT, TBS, truTV, ID and HLN, linear and streaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “Fifteen years into its run, Impractical Jokers is breaking records and delivering some of the best ratings in its history. Our fans absolutely love the humor and friendship of the Jokers, which keeps them coming back for more. We can’t wait to share even more laughs and unforgettable moments with them.”

According to TBS, since its January return the series has averaged a 1.72 rating among adults aged 25 to 54 – an increase of 292 percent compared with the previous season.

The broadcaster said the performance places the show on course to become the highest-rated season in its history, and it currently stands as the number one original series on cable in key adult demographics.

The programme has also seen increased engagement across its digital platforms, with its social media channels generating 65.3 million video views year-to-date and 2.9 million interactions so far this year.

Produced by NorthSouth Productions, Impractical Jokers first debuted in December 2011 and centres on Brian, James and Sal, lifelong friends who take part in a series of hidden-camera challenges in public settings.

Each episode culminates in a punishment for the participant who performs worst in the challenges, often involving scenarios designed to test their willingness to endure embarrassment.

The show has continued to deliver strong ratings more than a decade into its run despite criticism its stunt can be repetitive.
