Brian Austin Green has learned to "pick [his] battles" as a co-parent.

The 50-year-old actor - who has Noah, 11, Bodhi, ten, and Journey, seven, with his ex-wife Megan Fox - has insisted that he always makes his children his "number one" priority in life.

Asked about his approach to co-parenting, Brian told E! News: "The number one is always make sure that everything is centred around the experience of the kids."

The 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star has also learned some other important lessons about co-parenting.

Brian - who was married to Megan between 2010 and 2021 - explained: "The person that you were with that you're now separated from, you guys are separated for a reason, because you didn't get along. So, you can't expect to then get along after the fact in raising your kids.

"So, you have to decide, ‘OK, it's not about us getting along anymore. It's about us co-parenting, which is a totally different situation.'"

Brian also has Kassius, 21, with Vanessa Marcil, and Zane, 22 months, with his fiancee Sharna Burgess.

And last year, Sharna described motherhood as a "perfect and intimidating" experience.

The dancer wrote on Instagram at the time: "I love being a mother I think more than anything and parenting with Bri is everything I could’ve ever wanted. But having 5 young kids in our home feels both perfect and intimidating.

"We joke about our next car being a school bus but we’re not far off of it. And jokes aside, I would always want to make sure all the kids feel equal love and attention, and I wonder if we have more, how do we do that? I need more hours and days so I can give more love and attention. (sic)"
