Catherine, Princess of Wales' uncle says she is receiving "the best care in the world" as she recovers from abdominal surgery.

The 42-year-old royal spent two weeks in hospital following her operation for an undisclosed condition in January and is not expected to return to her royal duties until after Easter and Gary Goldsmith, the younger brother of the princess' mother, Carole Middleton, has praised the support she has been receiving in the wake of her surgery.

Gary was asked "Where's Kate?" by his 'Celebrity Big Brother' housemate Ekin-Su Culcologlu but insisted he wasn't allowed to speak about her condition.

He said in scenes aired on Wednesday (06.03.24): "Because she doesn't want to talk about… The last thing I’m going to do is… there's a kind of code of etiquette. If it's announced, I'll give you an opinion.

"I spoke to her mum, my sister. She's getting the best care in the world and all the family has done is put the wagons around and look after family first before anything else.

"They put a statement out that said we'll take some time to recoup and we'll see you in Easter."

Gary went on to reassure his new friend that his "amazing" niece will be "back" in the public eye eventually.

Ekin-Su said: "I've heard mixed things about Kate and I don't want to comment but I hope whatever it is, she'll be back."

Gary replied: "She's amazing. She'll be back, of course she will."

Gary has also admitted it isn't easy for him to get in contact with Catherine, who has three children with husband Prince William.

He said: "They call me the buncle! Have you heard of a buncle? Bad uncle, apparently every family has them.

"It's difficult to get hold of Kate at the best of times, and she’s got children and I love the fact that she’s putting family first."
