Hannah Waddingham’s daughter is her “greatest achievement and gift”.

The 49-year-old actress didn’t know whether she wanted to be a mother until her late 30s and now she couldn’t live without her eight year old, whose name and details, including that of her father, she keeps private.

Asked which woman has made the biggest difference to her life, she told Stylist magazine: “My little girly. I didn’t know whether I wanted to be a mother and then I got to 38 and looked in the mirror and thought, oh my God, I want a child.

“She’s, without doubt, my greatest achievement and gift.”

The ‘Ted Lasso’ star is determined not to take life too seriously.

She said: “Being an adult is… Never being an adult. Life is serious enough without being serious.

“I’ll be 50 next year and if I ever become an adult, smack me over the head.”

Hannah has had a fantastic 2023, but she doesn’t want to know what 2024 has in store for her.

Asked if she’d like to know what was coming up if she could, she replied: “I don’t know if I would want to, because you have to take the rough with the smooth, which is why I never read reviews because all you’d remember is the bad.”

The former ‘Game of Thrones’ actress believes her career means it is important to be comfortable on her own.

She said: “I spend a lot of time on my own, travelling with this lovely lucky career.

“I am an introverted extrovert – my idea of hell would be walking into a party by myself.

“But you do have to be your own best pal.”
