Aaron Carter has been honoured nearly a year after his death by having his portrait placed at Forest Lawn cemetery.

The singer was found dead in his bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California, on 5 November aged 34, with an autopsy report ruling his death an accident from the effects of difluoroethane – a flammable gas commonly found in cans of compressed air – and alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax.

His twin sister Angel Carter, 35, revealed on Instagram about paying tribute to him with a portrait weeks ahead of the first anniversary of his passing: “Aaron’s portrait was placed this morning at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

“He adored his fans, and I know how much this would mean to him now having a final resting place where we could all celebrate his life.”

She added: “I invite you to visit, share your memories, and never forget who Aaron was deep down.”

Aaron’s memorial features his face carved into bronze and alongside his portrait an inscription says: “In Loving Memory, Aaron Carter, 1987–2022. Beloved Brother, Son, Friend and Father of Prince Carter.”

The late singer’s death certificate revealed his sister Angel is in charge of his ashes.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner ruled his death an accident, and

two months before Aaron’s death he enrolled in an outpatient rehab program after losing custody of his son, who he had with his on-off fiancée Melanie Martin, 31.

He told The Sun about the treatment: “It’s an abstinence program and I work with an individual counsellor.”

Aaron added he was undertaking the counselling to get his son back.

But he was seen on a series of Instagram Live sessions and interviews in the weeks leading up to his death appearing to be under the influence.

In 2012, Aaron and Angel’s older sister Leslie Carter was killed by a drugs overdose aged 25.

Angel has told how she stopped speaking to their mum Jane Carter after she matriarch posted gruesome photos of the crime scene where Aaron’s body was found online.

She told People: “It was a true invasion of privacy and something that Aaron would’ve never wanted the public to see.”
