Donald Trump lashes out at Fox News as midterm results come in
Donald Trump has threatened to switch off Fox News after accusing the channel of turning against him during the US midterm elections.
Donald Trump has threatened to switch off Fox News after accusing the channel of turning against him during the US midterm elections.
The 80-year-old president criticised the network on Tuesday (03.11.26), singling out presenter Jessica Tarlov as Americans headed to the polls.
Trump complained about the Democratic strategist's voice during her appearance on the panel show 'The Five'.
He described her as "DUMB AS A ROCK" and a "LOSER", adding that he would watch another channel until she was off the air.
The president then attacked Fox News' election polling, claiming its questions were unfair to Republicans.
He also accused the network of giving too much airtime to Democrats and blamed its coverage for a reported decline in viewers.
Trump claimed ratings had fallen by 27 per cent because the channel was spending too much time covering his political opponents.
He wrote: "FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they're spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats!"
The president insisted the decline was "not because of me, but because they are AGAINST me!"
However, Fox Corporation chief executive Lachlan Murdoch had previously attributed falling ratings to "viewer fatigue".
Trump also questioned political donations made by the network's parent company to Democratic groups and politicians.
His criticism came as early election results pointed towards significant Democratic gains across the country.
The president later insisted Republicans would have performed better if his name had appeared on the ballot.
He declared: "I wasn't on the Ballot and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE!"
Democrats secured control of the Senate, while projections also indicated they would take the House of Representatives.
Despite his earlier criticism, Trump later spoke to Fox News presenters Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum about the election results.
The president watched the returns from the White House, where he hosted an election-night reception attended by members of his administration.
The results could make it harder for Trump to advance his legislative agenda during the remaining two years of his second term.
