A Coffs Harbour couple discovered they had won US$1 million on the lottery without receiving the email notification they normally get for much smaller prizes.

The New South Wales pensioners held the only division one winning entry across Australia in Friday's (23.10.26) Weekday Windfall draw.

Their success came from a marked 18-game entry bought through The Lott app, rather than a ticket purchased in a shop.

One of the winners told The Lott: "I think we checked the ticket about 50 times!

"We kind of don't believe it".

It was the only entry nationwide to match all six main numbers in draw 4772.

The winning numbers were 11, 12, 18, 30, 39 and 45, with 28 and 38 drawn as supplementary numbers.

The couple had been buying lottery tickets for decades without anything close to this result.

One of them said: "I think we've played lotteries for 40 years."

Their usual approach involves a mixture of favourite numbers and others picked at random.

They told the lottery operator they had previously won only relatively small amounts, making the seven-figure prize particularly difficult to take in.

The Lott shared their story on Monday (26.10.26), three days after the draw.

The couple live in the coastal city of Coffs Harbour, in northern New South Wales, and are now considering how the money can help their family.

Weekday Windfall offers a division one prize of $1 million to each of up to six winning entries in a draw.

Players must match six main numbers from a pool of 45, and draws are held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The two supplementary numbers help determine some of the smaller prizes but are not needed to win division one.

If more than six entries win the top division, the $6 million prize pool is divided between them.

For this draw, there was no need to divide the money among multiple winners.

The pair said the windfall would make a difference to their finances because they are living on a pension.

They also intend to help their son towards a deposit on a house, giving the family something practical to look forward to after years of buying tickets.
