Lady Louise Windsor, 22, spent several weeks preparing food for visitors to the Scottish estate, according to a Daily Mail report published earlier this month.

A source who has known Louise for years said a friend had been surprised to discover the identity of the person cooking for them.

They told the newspaper: "She's incredibly low-key and discreet."

The source also praised Louise's ability in the kitchen, explaining that she regularly cooks with her mother, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.

They said: "Louise is a really good cook."

Woman and Home revisited the story on Monday (26.10.26), linking the work to an interest in cooking that Louise shares with her mother.

It is not known how much Louise was paid for her time at Balmoral.

Cooking has long been an interest in the Edinburgh household. In 2020, Sophie shared a video of herself making cheese and bacon scones in support of Girlguiding and BBC Children in Need.

The Duchess has also spoken about discussing food with her late father-in-law, Prince Philip, who enjoyed cooking barbecues during family holidays in Scotland.

Louise graduated from the University of St Andrews this summer after four years studying English, and is taking a gap year before deciding on her next steps.

Her reported stint at Balmoral was not her first experience of ordinary employment.

Before university, she worked at a garden centre near her family's Bagshot Park home in Surrey.

Earlier this year, she requested a paid position at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, where her duties included office work and preparing correspondence.

Louise also competed in carriage driving at the event, continuing a sporting interest she inherited from her grandfather Philip.

Her parents have made it clear that they do not expect Louise or her younger brother James, Earl of Wessex, to become full-time working royals.

Sophie told The Sunday Times in 2020: "We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living."

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh chose not to use HRH styles for their children, despite their entitlement to them.

James, 18, has also reportedly taken a summer job on one of his uncle's estates, helping with farm work at Sandringham.
