Shaun Wright-Phillips becomes fourth contestant eliminated from Strictly Come Dancing
Shaun Wright-Phillips and Alexis Warr's Jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder, featuring Ariana Grande, failed to keep them in Strictly Come Dancing.
Shaun Wright-Phillips has become the fourth contestant to be eliminated from this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The ex-England player, 45, and his professional dance partner Alexis Warr, 26, left the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance competition during the results show on Sunday night (25.10.26).
They faced Babs actress Jaime Winstone, 41, and her professional dance partner Carlos Gu, 33, in the dance-off, with both couples hoping to improve their respective routines so that judges Craig Revel Horwood, 61, Motsi Mabuse, 45, Shirley Ballas, 66, and Anton Du Beke, 60, keep one pair in the show.
Shaun and Alexis won over Shirley with their Jive to Faith by Stevie Wonder, 76, featuring Ariana Grande, 33, but Craig and Motsi preferred Jaime and Carlos' Foxtrot to Man I Need by 27-year-old Olivia Dean.
With the non-unanimous decision, Anton, who had the casting vote on this week's show in the event of a tie, delivered his verdict, sending Jaime and Carlos into next Saturday's Halloween special.
Reflecting on his time on Strictly Come Dancing, Shaun said: "I don't think I can put into words how my time has been.
"I think from the pros, the judges, the staff behind the cameras, everybody that's helped me along the way has been the most amazing journey I've had.
"And thank you for giving me the chance to be on the Strictly ballroom floor and actually learn how to dance."
Addressing Alexis, he added: "Thank you. I couldn't ask for a better partner, a better human being.
"You knew how to deal with my mood swings, which isn't easy for the record. You put me in my box really quickly, and got me back on the dance floor, trying again, because I did have a lot of tough times.
"I wish I could have taken you further."
Alexis feels "honoured" to have had Shaun as her celebrity dance partner.
She said: "The resilience that this man has is so admirable, and I just want to say thank you so much.
"You have made this season such a joy for me, and it's been so lovely to just get to know you, and get to see you completely handle something different, and I'm so proud of how you just danced that dance off, and that's what we talk about. That's the grit.
"I'm so proud of you, and you should be so beyond happy.
"And also, the gentleman that this man is, I feel so honoured to have had him as my partner. So, friends for life."
Alexis added: "You made my journey so special."
Host Emma Willis, 50, asked Shaun if he is going to keep dancing, and he replied: "Oh, hell yeah!"
On Saturday night (24.10.26), Winter Olympic skeleton gold medallist Tabby Stoecker, 25, and her professional dance partner Mark Karmalita, 23, topped the leaderboard with their Couple's Choice routine to Stupid Song by Olivia Rodrigo, earning 37 points from the judges.
Neighbours alum Delta Goodrem, 41, and her professional dance partner Kai Widdrington, 31, finished second with their Rumba to It's All Coming Back to Me Now by Celine Dion, 58, receiving 34 points.
YouTube star John Nellis, 33, and his professional dance partner Katya Jones, 37, had to settle for third place after their Quickstep to Five Colours in Her Hair by McFly scored them 32.
Shaun and Alexis were at the bottom of the pile with 17 points, just two behind Jaime and Carlos.
Celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, 43, Gavin and Stacey star Melanie Walters, 64, and Dame Sarah Storey, 48, and their respective professional dance partners, Amy Dowden, 36, Aljaz Skorjanec, 36, and Julian Caillon, 31, have also been eliminated from this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Next week’s Halloween results show will feature the show's first-ever triple dance-off.
The three couples with the lowest combined judges’ scores and public votes will dance again, before the judges vote on which one couple to eliminate from Strictly Come Dancing 2026.
The 11 remaining couples will return to the dance floor next Saturday (31.10.26) at 6.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
