Laura Tobin only truly appreciated her mother's sacrifices after becoming a working mum herself.

The Good Morning Britain weather presenter, who has nine-year-old Charlotte with her husband Dean Brown, admitted she had only recently realised just how much her mum had been there for her growing up - and continues to go out of her way to support Laura and her granddaughter.

Laura, 45, was quick to praise her mum when BANG Showbiz asked about the unsung hero in her life at the 2026 Best Heroes Awards, sponsored by DFS, at The Waldorf Hilton, London on Tuesday night (13.10.26).

She said: "I think probably for everybody it's always our mums, right? Because they sacrifice so much without us even knowing it. They're always there at all the key points in our lives, always there to offer us advice, and they never want anything in return.

"And even me as a grown-up now, and my mum's now a grandma, if I go to my mum's house, she has my favourite sweets. She'll prepare my favourite dinner, or she'll message me and say, 'You've been working really hard. Try and do something relaxing. I'll help with Charlotte.'"

Laura continued: "I was talking to somebody the other day about how I'm a working mum, and my mum, she didn't work when I was in school, so she just worked in school hours.

"And it was only the other day I thought to myself, 'Wow, my mum was there for every drop-off, every pick-up, every club, every show, everything.' And actually, I just think it was that build-up of just always being around."

The meteorologist opened up about how she balances motherhood with her demanding career in breakfast TV, insisting she has plenty of time with Charlotte despite her early starts.

Laura explained: "The hours I keep, although they're crazy, they really help.

"So I never do school drop-off, but I do pick-up every single day. I run a Beavers group, so I take my daughter to Beavers, a campfire at the weekend.

"I take her to her ballet classes, her drama classes, all of her Scouts and her Cubs. And then we just make sure we have family time at the weekend.

"So Friday I go home, I have a nap. Otherwise, I’d fall asleep really early, and it’s Friday evening. And then we have all the time at the weekend.

"So I think if I was a nine-to-five, you’ve missed your drop-off or pick-up. So I feel really lucky that I get to do one of those."

She added: "I feel like I'm around more. It’s just getting up at silly o'clock in the morning."

With Charlotte approaching her 10th birthday on July 25, 2027, Laura is determined to cherish every moment of her daughter's childhood before she grows up.

She said: "I keep looking at her and thinking she looks massive and really big. And I look at photos of her from last year. Last year I thought she looked big, so I just need to enjoy her now and not hurry it along too much."

Being a mum has made Laura realise just how "happy you can be and how much you can love something and love someone".

She added: "Me and my husband probably look at our daughter about ten times a day, and go, 'She’s so amazing!'"
