Melanie Walters has become the second celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.
Melanie Walters has exited Strictly Come Dancing.
The 64-year-old actress has become the latest celebrity to leave the BBC show, after losing in the dreaded dance-off to sports star Shaun Wright-Phillips.
After her exit from the show was confirmed, Melanie - who also found herself in the dance-off last weekend - explained: "I thought I’d be out last week - so I’ve had a bonus extra week."
Aljaz Skorjanec, Melanie's professional dance partner, also paid a glowing tribute to the actress.
The Strictly star said: "You’re professional in everything and we had fun every day."
Melanie and Aljaz, 36, previously underwhelmed the Strictly judges with their Charleston routine, which they performed to the sound of Gina G’s 1997 pop hit Ooh Ahh… Just A Little Bit.
Judge Craig Revel Horwood explained that he "didn't love" their performance.
However, fellow Strictly judge Motsi Mabuse was more sympathetic to the Gavin and Stacey star, urging her to "keep going" with her efforts.
Melanie was ultimately voted off the TV show, even though Shaun and Alexis Warr, his professional partner, received a paltry 15 points for their quickstep routine, which they performed to the sound of I'm a Believer by The Monkees.
Meanwhile, Melanie previously admitted to being a long-time fan of Strictly.
The actress also explained that she was "completely thrilled" to compete on the long-running TV show, having watched it for so many years.
She said: "Performing in Pantomime for the last 15 years, my Strictly ‘fix’ has always been watching in a dressing room rather than my front room.
"This year I am completely thrilled and happy to swap my fairy wand for sequinned dance shoes. I just hope I don’t follow Cinderella and leave one on the Ballroom stairs."
Melanie also hailed Strictly as an "iconic" TV show.
The actress - who previously starred in programmes such as We Are Seven, Hollyoaks, and Death Valley - said: "I cannot wait to take part in this absolutely iconic show - it’s so exciting."
