Love Island 2020 star Shaughna Phillips finds it funny when trolls get creative with their insults and gets a thrill from firing back at them.
Love Island's Shaughna Phillips gets a "dopamine hit" from taking on social media trolls.
The TV personality, who shot to fame on the ITV2 dating show's first winter series in 2020, has brushed off online abuse, admitting she now finds it funny.
Shaughna, 32, exclusively told BANG Showbiz on behalf of BetWright Casino: "I don’t know whether there’s something wrong with me, but trolling just makes me laugh. Like, I genuinely think I must have something wrong with my brain."
The beauty gets a thrill when trolls put some effort into their insults.
She added: "If people give me like a really generic, boring insult, I’m like, 'That is so boring. I can’t believe you've gone out of your way just to say something.'
"But if they’re really creative with it, I’m like, 'You know what? I appreciate that. I appreciate the work that you’ve put into that.'"
Her love of taking on trolls makes it hard for her to stay quiet.
Shaughna said: "I just like calling it out - and I try not to, because I really try not to give them the attention - but I just love letting them know they really don’t bother me.
"I get like a dopamine hit from it. I should, like, be studied."
And there is one reason why the star gets such a kick out of firing back at trolls.
She explained: "Because they’re so pointless.
"Don’t get me wrong, if I was to go and comment on Kim Kardashian’s Instagram and be like, 'Oh, your hair looks really s*** here.' Do you think Kim Kardashian is going to lose any sleep over little old me thinking she's got s*** hair?
"But don't get me wrong, there's probably been a few times when I thought her hair don't look great, but I don't sit there and tell her about it because who the f*** cares?
"So yeah, I just like letting them know how absolutely pathetic they are. It gives me a thrill."
Shaughna - who has daughters Lucia, three, and Sofia, 10 months, with her partner Billy Webb - credits her naturally thick skin for not letting trolls get to her.
She said: "I’ve always been like that. I just think if you’re going out of your way to say something horrible about me, I must be on your mind, which is actually really quite concerning because there is no one that I look at on Instagram and go, 'Oh, she looks horrible. Let me tell her about that,' because what is going to come from that?
"Potentially making someone feel horrible about themselves.
"So the fact that they’re actually doing that obviously shows that they’re quite troubled to begin with.
"But you know what? I’ve had real-life problems. I’ve had real-life s*** happen to me. So someone on Instagram saying they think I’m ugly or they think I’m fat really is water off a duck’s back.
"If that was the worst thing that was going on in my life, then I’ve had a really good life."
