Marnie Simpson snubs Geordie Shore after 'pay cut'
Marnie Simpson told fans on Instagram that she had opted not to sign up for what will be the 26th series of the MTV show.
Marnie Simpson has revealed she snubbed the new series of Geordie Shore because she “knows her worth”.
The 34-year-old made her debut on the reality show back in 2013, and continued until 2017. She then rejoined in 2022, but has told fans she opted not to sign up for what will be the 26th series of the MTV show.
During a Q A session on Instagram, Marnie was asked “have you filmed for this year’s Geordie Shore?”
To which she replied: “I didn’t. I chose to not take part this year.”
Marnie added that she made her decision after being told she wouldn’t earn as much on the programme this time around.
She continued: “In all honesty, they tied to pay cut us and I was like HELL NO.
“Your girl knows her worth.”
It was reported back in April that Marnie had decided not to appear in the new series, exiting alongside co-stars James Tindale and Abbie Holborn.
A source told The Sun at the time: “James, Marnie and Abbie have all chosen to move on from the show.
“They feel like it’s time to start a new chapter and do other things.
“They have all left in the past and come back down the line though, so who knows if they will close the book for good but for now.
“They will not be in series 27, which starts shooting any day now.
“It’s caused a real headache for show bosses, because they are three key players in the cast and it doesn’t give production a lot of time to make plans.”
Just a few weeks later, the publication revealed that Chloe Ferry, who had joined the show in 2015, had also quit.
An insider said: “Chloe has decided to call it a day after eleven years on the show, which is a huge blow to bosses.
“Contract negotiations came down to the wire and in the end, they couldn’t reach an agreement that Chloe was happy with.”
