Strictly Come Dancing pro Dianne Buswell feared she would never dance again after undergoing an emergency C-section to welcome her first child with partner Joe Sugg.
The 37-year-old star was left in severe pain and struggled to even sit up after she and the 32-year-old internet personality, who met on the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show in 2018, welcomed their baby boy Bowden "Bowie" via a cut made to her tummy and womb.
On the latest episode of the Oxydise podcast, Dianne said: "You basically are bedridden, also it's your hormones going wild as well. So you've got that on top of pain on top of having this newborn and wanting to give it all your attention, but also you can't even get out of bed.
"Even to sit up is like a real mission. There was one night I had to go to the toilet in the middle of the night, and I just burst into tears because of the pain of just sitting up or having to manoeuvre myself out of bed was just unbearable.
"I was like, 'How am I going to recover, and will I ever be able to dance again?'
"That was my initial thoughts. I was like, 'This has absolutely torn through my muscles. I'm never going to be able to dance again. I've lost all mobility in my legs. I've lost my core strength.'
"It was very intense."
However, Dianne - who reached the Strictly Come Dancing final with Joe - "started to feel so much better" after she passed the "two-week mark" in her recovery, which she declared was "the main struggle".
In March, the dancer took to Instagram and announced Bowden's birth.
Dianne posted a series of photos of her newborn, with the caption: "Never felt a love like it. Baby Bowden Mark Richard Sugg. 16/03/26 (sic)."
The entertainer was criticised for taking part in Strictly Come Dancing last year while she was pregnant.
But Dianne - who was partnered with Neighbours alum Stefan Dennis, 67, on the show - was quick to hit back at a troll on social media.
The cruel user initially wrote on Instagram: "I don't want to see her dance being pregnant, it's already feeling uncomfortable, and she's only starting to show.
"It's really not appropriate."
Dianne was quick to respond, insisting that criticism of her decision to compete on the TV show was misplaced.
She said: "I can't believe in 2025 things like this are still being said."
