As a part of a rare collection of interview tapes that are being digitsed and released by Bang Showbiz on YouTube for the first time in history, today we are able to present Rick Sky’s interview with Patti Smith, the interview takes place on March 26th 1978, before her show at The Pavillion De Paris.

The 50 year old unearthed interview spans 44 minutes, before we released the tape this month it hadn’t been heard by anyone during the digital age, it is a rare look into Patti Smith at an incredible moment in her career. At the time, she was promoting ‘Easter’, the album was released only 23 days before this interview took place and featured tracks such as ‘Because The Night’ which have become worldwide successes that have stood the test of time to date.

In the interview, with its analogue charm, Patti discusses music, the media, her personal life and her career at a fascinating moment in her history.

This audio is a part of a series of 500+ tapes that are being digitised and released on our YouTube channel this year, featuring interviews with Queen, David Bowie, Mick Jagger and many more stars.
