Jason Durr is set for a guest stint on EastEnders.

The 58-year-old actor - who has previously played Mike Bradley in Heartbeat and David Hide in Casualty - is poised to play a new character called CliveClive Masters in the long-running BBC soap.

Jason said: "Few shows command their place in the national conversation quite like Eastenders, so I’m delighted to be joining the cast as Clive Masters."

Jason's character, Clive, is a local Councillor who arrives in Albert Square as the residents rally together to save the Community Centre when it becomes at risk of redevelopment.

Clive quickly sparks up a close relationship with Linda Carter, who is played by Kellie Bright, and Jason relished the experience of working with the actress.

He explained: "Working with the wonderful Kellie Bright has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one. All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good-humoured. I’m excited for audiences to meet Clive and see what’s in store."

Meanwhile, Toby-Alexander Smith recently announced that he was reprising the role of Walford’s infamous serial killer Gray Atkins.

The character left Albert Square back in 2022 when he was sent to prison for his crimes, including the murders of Chantelle Atkins, Kush Kazemi and Tina Carter.

Speaking on his return to the BBC soap, Toby-Alexander said: "It’s been very surreal returning to EastEnders and stepping back into Gray’s shoes. He’s one of the most complex characters I’ve had the opportunity to play and revisiting him after several years has been an exciting challenge to get my teeth into.

"Exploring who Gray is now has been, fascinating, and I’m excited for the audience to see this version of him and watch the storyline play out."

Ben Wadey, EastEnders Executive Producer, also welcomed the actor's return to the show.

Ben said: "We’re delighted to welcome Toby-Alexander Smith back to the role of Gray Atkins. Although his character remains in prison, it will soon become apparent to viewers that Gray’s physical separation from Walford is no match for his levels of manipulation."
