The X Factor's Katie Waissel back in hospital with suspected blood clot amid pneumonia battle
The X Factor 2010 star Katie Waissel was admitted to the private Wellington Hospital and underwent scans and tests.
The X Factor's Katie Waissel is back in hospital with a suspected blood clot on her lung - almost two days after she was discharged while recovering from severe bacterial pneumonia.
The 40-year-old star - who finished seventh on the ITV singing competition in 2010 - was admitted to the private Wellington Hospital in London for scans and tests as her battle with the serious lung infection continues.
In an X post, published on Thursday (25.06.26), Katie penned: "After a day and a half at home, I’m now BACK at the hospital and not doing so great.
"Whilst still battling this awful bacterial pneumonia, there’s now a suspected blood clot on my lung, so I’m back in for more scans, tests and needles. I’m fairly certain I’ve run out of veins for people to poke at this point."
The Celebrity Big Brother 2016 housemate thanked the team at Wellington Hospital for their "incredible" care.
Katie's focus is to "get better and get home to my little boy", Hudson, seven, whom she has with her ex-partner, personal trainer Andy Speer.
In a June 19 X post, the singer-songwriter told her fans she was "far closer to the edge than I realised" after being rushed to the private St John + St Elizabeth's Hospital in London with "severe" bacterial pneumonia.
Katie described the ordeal as "one of the most frightening and excruciatingly painful experiences of my life", and it has made her even more determined to make the most of living.
In a separate X post, published on Thursday, she wrote: "I’m still a little bit in shock, if I’m honest, coming to terms with just how close I came to not being here anymore.
"It’s made me realise there are still so many things I want to see, do, learn and experience, and that perhaps 'one day' isn’t a date we should rely on.
"So, I’ve decided it’s time to write a proper bucket list and start ticking things off."
Katie ended by asking her followers for recommendations on what "everyone should do at least once in their lifetime".
Her supporters rushed to the post's comments section to wish a speedy recovery, as one typed: "@katiewaissel24, you poor girl. I pray it is minor and you fully recover quickly! I also pray that you can go back home soon! (sic)"
A second fan reacted: "Oh my god Katie I am so sorry to hear that. Thinking about you. (sic)"
And a third follower said: "Sending good vibes and strength. Take good care of yourself and rest plenty. Hope you get better quickly."
