Rylan Clark reacts to Strictly Come Dancing rejection
Rylan Clark has reflected on being overlooked for Strictly Come Dancing.
Rylan Clark feels "extremely grateful" to have been considered for a role on Strictly Come Dancing.
The This Morning star auditioned for a presenting role on the hit BBC show, but after being overlooked in favour of Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe, Rylan took to social media to congratulate the trio.
Rylan wrote on Instagram: "Just wanted to say as it was reported I was in 'The Race' for Strictly, the biggest congrats to my Emma and equal congrats to Johannes and Josh.
"You're all going to have the best time. Made up for you's.
"This wasn't my time sadly but am extremely grateful to even have been considered.
"I'm taking the news really well (see next slide) but genuinely looking forward to the new series with you three x. (sic)"
In the next slide, Rylan posted a tongue-in-cheek video of himself crying uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Kate Phillips, the BBC’s Chief Content Officer, has voiced her support for Emma, Johannes and Josh.
Despite this, Kate acknowledged that it wasn't easy to decide who should replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on the BBC show.
She said in a statement: "Emma, Johannes and Josh’s chemistry is undeniable.
"There’s been so much speculation and hype, so I’m relieved we can share the news with the public at last! I’d like to thank all the brilliant people we saw before making this tough decision. But the most beloved ballroom in the UK always leads the way, and in a Strictly first we have chosen three outstanding hosts to take up the mantle.
"Along with our amazing Strictly team, who are busy planning fabulous and unforgettable treats for this new series, I know this terrific trio can’t wait to join our judges and pros to bring us must-see TV on the BBC this autumn."
Sarah James, Strictly Come Dancing Executive Producer for BBC Studios, is similarly convinced that they've chosen the perfect trio for the role.
She said: "We are absolutely thrilled to finally share this wonderful news. The combination of Emma, Josh, and Jojo was unexpected, but their magic was undeniable the moment they came together."
