Strictly Come Dancing winner Karen Carney has not danced post-show
Karen Carney won Strictly Come Dancing in 2025, but she has not kept up dancing because she does not have time.
Karen Carney has not danced since she won Strictly Come Dancing.
The former England footballer has been offered dance classes from the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance show's pros, including her 2025 series partner, Carlos Gu, 33, and although she would "love to" keep dancing, she does not have time.
The 38-year-old football pundit told the new issue of Heat magazine: "Carlos has always offered, and a lot of the pros have always said, 'We'll teach you, come to our classes!'
"So, I've always got some good teaching options. For me, it's just finding time."
But Karen does bop to music now and then.
She said: "I do miss dancing, and I will have a jig around the house just to keep me occupied."
Although the sports star's busy work schedule stops her from doing dance classes, she does find time to meet up with Carlos.
Karen said: "I saw him last week. We went for breakfast, which was cute. Because I'm busy and he's busy, I try to see him maybe every four to six weeks.
"Or, if we've got an event, we'll try and support each other at our various different things. So, we see each other quite regularly."
The athlete and Carlos lifted the coveted Glitterball trophy after they blew the judges and viewers away with their spellbinding routines each week.
And although Karen thinks winning Strictly Come Dancing has not changed her life, she feels people recognise her more when out and about.
The sports journalist said: "I'm still the same person - I'm still in a hoodie, I'm still doing football. It's really interesting.
"Carlos said the same. People keep asking him if he thinks my life has changed, and he's like, 'No, she did Strictly to enjoy herself, but she's still Karen. She's got football.'
"Maybe I'm more recognisable if I go out. Everyone's so lovely, as well. Strictly is such a great show. It's such a positive, family show."
And Karen thinks England footballer Leah Williamson, 29, would get a warm reception from viewers if she did Strictly Come Dancing.
Karen said: "I think Leah Williamson's cool. She's got, like, swag. I don't know whether she'd do it, but I think she's really cool, and I think everyone would really love her."
