BBC announces surprise star as UK's new Eurovision jury spokesperson
The UK has a new Jury spokesperson reading out the votes at the Eurovision Song Contest this weekend.
La Voix will be the UK Jury spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Strictly Come Dancing and RuPaul's Drag Race UK favourite has been announced as the nation's first ever "spokes-queen" for this weekend's grand final in Vienna, meaning the star will read out the results of the nation's public vote.
In a statement, the drag queen said: "I’m absolutely over the moon to be announcing the UK Jury scores at Eurovision 2026.
"It’s the one night where sequins are en masse, key changes are compulsory, and absolutely anything can happen – so naturally I feel right at home."
La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, joked that asking the star to be her best behaviour might be a bit ambitious.
She quipped: "I’ll do my best to behave… but no promises!"
La Voix is following in the footsteps of the likes of AJ Odudu, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Dame Joanna Lumley and Catherine Tate, who have all read out the UK vote in recent years.
The queen first rose to fame as a finalist on RuPaul's Drag Race UK series six in 2024, and she became a household name after appearing on Strictly last year.
Unfortunately, her time in the ballroom was cut short after suffering a broken foot, but she was able to return with Aljaz Skorjanec to perform a farewell Samba during Blackpool week.
Late last year, La Voix threw her name in the hat for the Strictly presenting role after Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman's shock departure has left bosses with a big decision to make.
She told Closer magazine: "It's the most sought-after job in TV – you can imagine the presenters queuing around the block for it.
"The bosses haven't asked me yet, but I'm doing lots of wonderful things with them at the minute and to even be considered would be enough for me.
"Actually, I take that back – I want the job! There's no point being coy about it! I've stood next to the two women who have literally handed their notice in – I've got to go, 'I'm free!'"
La Voix will appear live during this weekend's Eurovision final, where UK entrant Look Mum No Computer is hoping to end the nation's run of zero points in back-to-back years.
The Eurovision Song Contest airs live on May 16 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
