Rylan Clark sparks gossip about his love life after referring to himself as a ‘married man’
Television presenter Rylan Clark quickly corrected himself after referring to himself as a “married man” during a live interview from Vienna while discussing Eurovision.
Rylan Clark has sparked fresh speculation about his love life after accidentally referring to himself as a “married man”.
The former X Factor contestant and Big Brother presenter, 37, made the remark as he appeared live on ITV’s This Morning on Thursday (14.05.26) alongside hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley ahead of the Eurovision final – before immediately correcting himself on air.
Rylan, who has spoken openly in recent years about the breakdown of his marriage and subsequent mental health struggles, said during the conversation about this year’s Eurovision Song Contest coverage from Vienna he had a previous encounter with King Charles, 77, who had jokingly asked whether he had “behaved himself” during an earlier Eurovision trip.
Recalling the exchange with the King, Rylan said: “I said it was my first single Eurovision back then, I said I’d been a bit naughty and he laughed.”
The presenter continued: “Then, I was at the palace after Eurovision, he was like, ‘Did you behave?’, I went ‘What do you think?’ and he laughed.”
He then added: “So yeah, I am behaving now. Look, I’m a married man, I’m very happy… I’ve not even been out this year. That’s the God’s honest truth.”
Ben immediately questioned the comment, replying: “Can we just go back, you just said you were a married man, Rylan.” He added: “Has something happened while you’ve been in Vienna that you need to tell us?”
Laughing, Rylan quickly corrected himself and said: “Not married, just very happy, very content.”
He added: “Living my fairground life.”
The comments quickly fuelled online speculation surrounding Rylan’s relationship with Kennedy Bates, who reportedly works as a director for Billy Bates and Sons funfair in Leicester.
The pair were first linked publicly last year after being photographed together at a Radio 2 festival event.
Reports at the time claimed Rylan had introduced Kennedy to friends and family as the relationship became more serious.
The romance marks Rylan’s first long-term relationship since the end of his marriage to former police officer Dan Neal, 44, in 2021 after six years together.
Following the split, Rylan spoke candidly about experiencing severe mental health struggles and later revealed he had been unfaithful during the relationship.
The presenter also disclosed he attempted to take his own life during the aftermath of the divorce.
In recent months, Rylan has continued discussing the breakdown of the marriage publicly while promoting projects including his memoir and podcast appearances.
Speaking on Kathy Burke’s Where There’s A Will There’s A Wake podcast, Rylan reflected on the marriage and insisted he did not regret it.
Rylan said: “I don’t regret getting married.”
He added: “I mean I regret not having a f****** prenup. That’s the only thing I regret.”
Rylan first rose to fame on The X Factor in 2012 before becoming a staple of British reality and entertainment television through Celebrity Big Brother, Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two and BBC Radio 2.
In recent years, he has also earned praise for documentaries exploring his relationship with his mother Linda Clark and for helping revive mainstream British interest in Eurovision coverage.
