Neighbours returning to UK screens
Neighbours will be back on screens in the UK - months after the Australian soap aired its final episode.
Neighbours is returning to screens in the UK.
The Australian soap aired its final episode in December 2025 after it was axed by Amazon Freevee, the now-dissolved streaming platform that saved the show when it first got the chop in 2022 after Channel 5 dropped Neighbours and its production company, Fremantle, was unable to find another channel to air and fund the programme.
But fans can rewatch classic episodes of Neighbours - which began in 1985 - as UKTV has struck a deal with Fremantle, which includes the first 420 episodes.
From July, 115 episodes will drop on the streaming service U, with five more added weekly.
Emma Tibbetts, UKTV’s Director of Programming for Scripted, said: "Neighbours is one of television’s most iconic and enduring dramas, and we’re thrilled to bring the back-catalogue to U.
"This acquisition further expands the breadth of scripted entertainment available on our free streaming service, strengthening our growing slate of global IP.
"We can’t wait for both long-time fans and new audiences to rediscover the series in its entirety."
Louise Toner, VP Distribution UK and Ireland, International, for Fremantle, added: "Neighbours is a truly iconic series, loved across generations.
"We’re thrilled to partner with UKTV to bring its classic episodes and unforgettable characters back to audiences old and new."
The emotional final episode saw the residents bid farewell to Ramsay Street forever because their houses would be razed to make way for a highway.
Fan-favourites Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), and Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) reflected on the iconic cul-de-sac's legacy before they left for good.
Stefan - who played Paul on and off since Neighbours began in 1985 - felt sad about saying goodbye to his alter ego.
In September 2025, the Strictly Come Dancing 2025 star told My Weekly magazine: "Saying goodbye to Paul Robinson has felt a bit like losing myself.
"He is a character who's been with me almost my entire career - three-quarters of it.
"He's probably the best-loved and longest-serving villain in Australian television history, and I wear that badge proudly.
"He wasn't just a black-and-white bad guy, but a smiling badie.
"It was bringing to a close a very, very large part of my career and my life."
