EastEnders legend Dean Gaffney firmly rules out doing Strictly Come Dancing
Former EastEnders star Dean Gaffney will never do Strictly Come Dancing.
Dean Gaffney has ruled out doing Strictly Come Dancing to avoid humiliating himself.
The 48-year-old actor fears performing dance disasters in the ballroom, but admitted it would be entertaining.
Dean told the latest issue of new! magazine: "I've got two left feet. If I ever did Dancing on Ice or Strictly, I'd be like Todd Carty - I'd just be so horrendous. What was his name? John Sergeant? I'd be like him or Ann Widdecombe, stomping around the place.
"It would make great TV, but I'd be terrible. Which is ironic because I went to drama school, and we did study dance. I must've bunked off those lessons."
As well as the BBC Latin and Ballroom dance competition, Channel 4's Celebrity Coach Trip is also a firm no.
Dean said: "There are some [reality TV shows] I just wouldn't do. And that's no disrespect, because as a viewer, I actually enjoy them ... things like Celebrity Coach Trip.
"Each to their own - make your money how you make your money - but it wouldn't be for me."
The former EastEnders star said it was a "no-brainer" to do I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2006, in which he finished fifth.
The entertainer explained: "It's on prime-time ITV, 10 million viewers with Ant [McPartlin] and Dec [Donnelly]."
In 2019, Dean revealed he turned down BBC's Celebrity MasterChef but would love to be pushed to the limits through the Special Air Services screening process on Channel 4's Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
He told The Sun newspaper: "They did ask me to do Celebrity MasterChef, but I can't cook.
"So they said to my agent, 'We'll come back in a year and see if he has done any cooking lessons.'
"I'd love to do the Celeb SAS reality show - I do like to challenge myself."
But, ultimately, Dean - who did E4's Celebs Go Dating in 2020 - would rather focus on acting, and "dip into reality TV now and then".
