Emmerdale's Charley Webb reveals emotional way she said goodbye to mum after death on Mother's Day
Emmerdale star Charley Webb and her Hollyoaks star brother Jamie Lomas lost their mum, Helen, on Mother's Day after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Charley Webb was "nearly broken" with how she said goodbye to her mum following her death on Mother's Day.
The Emmerdale star and her Hollyoaks star brother Jamie Lomas were devastated that Helen lost her 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease - a progressive condition that affects functions in the brain - and weeks after her passing, Charley had private time with Helen in the chapel of rest.
According to The Sun, Charley penned on Instagram: "I went to see my mum today in the chapel of rest.
"I know not everyone wants to do that when someone passes but it felt important for me.
"It was actually much harder than I thought it would be and saying goodbye nearly broke me but I’m SO relieved I did it."
Charley and Jamie - famed for playing Debbie Dingle and Warren Fox on Emmerdale and Hollyoaks, respectively - announced their beloved mum's death with a heartbreaking Instagram post on March 15.
Charley, 38, shared a sweet picture of her as a child kissing Helen on the cheek with the caption: "My beautiful Mum left us today on Mother’s Day. 15/03/2026.
"The past twelve years were stolen from us, that’s the only way to describe this feeling. 'The long goodbye', Thank you to everyone for all of your support, especially everyone that’s looked after her so well for the last 3 years.
"And to all of my closest people, I couldn’t life without you (sic)."
Meanwhile, Jamie, 50, posted a more recent picture of himself adorably cuddling Helen as they smiled at the camera on the social media platform, with the caption: "Sadly we lost our beautiful mum today on Mother’s Day.
"After a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s, she finally decided it was time to leave us. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone with this awful illness, you will know that you lose them not once but twice.
"Our mum was always so strong and to watch her over the years slowly turn into someone who is just a shell of who they once were is very difficult to take and watch.
"You are now at peace mum and we love you and we will miss you so so much. You were the first person to love me before the world even knew I existed.
"Good night mum R I P.
"I wanted to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful staff who cared for her on a daily basis and for those who helped her in some way. You truly are all amazing people (sic)."
Many of the soap siblings' co-stars and celebrity pals rushed to the comments section to express their condolences.
In 2023, Charley first revealed Helen's Alzheimer’s battle, and in January 2026, she admitted the pain it had caused her family.
Speaking on The Life of Bryony podcast, Charley explained to 45-year-old host Bryony Gordon: "I think I have dealt with this situation probably in quite a bizarre way.
"I mean, I'm definitely a compartmentaliser. I know this about myself, especially since I've been having therapy recently. Everything's in a box, and you just shut it off.
"But I have to be honest - and I know this is controversial - I really struggle to go and see my mum without getting upset.
Holding back tears, Charley continued: "It's hard. It's not the person that you love, you know? I think, actually, it's good that people. get to see this, though, because if they're going through it, you feel alone."
