Casting for the fourth season remains ongoing.
A report by Variety said: “The series will begin production in April in France, where it will film at several locations across the French Riviera and Paris.”
The series, created by Mike White, is produced for HBO with executive producers David Bernad and Mark Kamine.
It debuted in 2021 with a season set in Hawaii, followed by subsequent instalments in Italy and Thailand.
Each season has included at least one returning cast member, with Jennifer Coolidge appearing in the first two seasons, and a storyline in the third season involving Natasha Rothwell and Jon Gries.
Variety previously reported filming locations are expected to include a 19th-century palace-turned luxury hotel, Château de La Messardière in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur.
The series has received 66 Emmy nominations across its first three seasons, winning 16 awards.
Originally conceived during the Covid-19 pandemic, The White Lotus was designed as a contained production set in a luxury resort in Hawaii, allowing filming to proceed under strict conditions.
But what began as a one-off satire quickly evolved into an anthology series after its critical and commercial success.
The first season followed wealthy guests and staff at a Hawaiian resort, blending dark comedy with social commentary on privilege, class and power.
Its sharp writing and ensemble performances, including Jennifer Coolidge, helped the show become a breakout hit.
HBO subsequently renewed the series, transforming it into an anthology with each season set in a new luxury destination.
The second season, set in Sicily, expanded the show’s scope while maintaining its core themes of wealth, relationships and moral ambiguity.
It attracted strong viewership and further acclaim, cementing the programme’s reputation as one of HBO’s flagship dramas.
A third season, set in Thailand, continued the formula of new characters, location-driven storytelling and interconnected narratives.
